Serger Recipes Privacy Policy

Serger Recipes does not collect your data. There is no account, no login, and no server for anything to be sent to. The app contains no networking code, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no advertising. This page explains what that means in practice and what the app does touch.

What Serger Recipes stores, and where

Everything you create in Serger Recipes—recipes, machines, supplies, and swatch photos—is stored on your device.

iCloud sync is on by default. While it is on, the same data is mirrored to your own private iCloud database under your Apple Account, so it appears on your other Apple devices. This uses Apple’s CloudKit private database, which means:

• The data lives in your personal iCloud account, not in an account with the developer.
• The developer cannot see, read, or retrieve it.
• You manage it in Settings under your Apple Account.

You can turn sync off in the app’s Settings, and Serger Recipes then keeps everything on the device. If iCloud is unavailable or no Apple Account is signed in, the app falls back to local storage by itself and tells you so.

Preferences

Serger Recipes keeps a few preferences of its own on the device: whether sync is on, whether you have seen the introduction, your preferred default machine, and the last machine you used. They are stored with the system’s standard preferences storage (UserDefaults), which is the only such API the app declares to Apple. Nothing is read from or written to any other app.

Permissions

Camera — requested only when you tap to take a swatch photo. The prompt reads: “Serger Recipes uses the camera to add a photo of your own serger test swatch. The photo stays in your vault.”

Photo library — photos are chosen through the system picker, which hands the app only the image you pick. The app never has access to your photo library.

Purchases

Serger Recipes Pro is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. The app learns only whether Pro is unlocked on your Apple Account. No payment information reaches the developer or the app.

Links to other sites

Some screens link to manufacturers’ own pages for manuals and specifications. Those open in your browser and are covered by those sites’ policies, not this one.

Deleting your data

Deleting a recipe deletes it, and the deletion syncs to your other devices. Deleting the app removes the data stored on the device. Data in your iCloud is managed by you in Settings under your Apple Account. There is nothing for the developer to delete, because the developer holds nothing.

Your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, delete, and move personal data held about you. Those rights apply here too, but the developer processes no personal data about you, so there is nothing held to request. Your data is already in your hands, and the whole vault can be exported as a .json file from Settings.

Children

Serger Recipes is not directed at children, and it collects nothing from anyone, of any age.

Third parties

There are none. Serger Recipes contains no third-party SDKs, analytics, crash-reporting service, or advertising networks, and makes no network requests of its own. The only external service involved is Apple’s: iCloud syncs data to your own account, and the App Store processes purchases.

Apple’s handling of that data is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version is published on this page and the date at the top changes with it. Because Serger Recipes collects nothing, a change is likely to be a clarification rather than a new practice.
